|
|
Hi guys,
I am new at the message board and hunting in general. I have been on one hunting trip for boar about a year ago with a friend and loved the experience.
I had a couple questions. First I was wondering if anyone knows of any good places to hunt some boar, that is located on public land. When we went about a year ago, we hunted laguna mountain and had no success. I am open for any suggestions or ideas. Anything would be greatly appreciated.
Second, I purchased a Benelli Super Black Eagle II and was wondering what steps I should take with it, as far as bullet purchase etc. to have the most successful boar hunt possible.
Thanks for your time.

| You probably would have a better chance of getting a pig with a rifle or even a pistol than a shotgun. Some places only allow shotgun hunting so I think it can be done, but most people use slugs with a rifled barrel. |

Thanks for the response granite.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where me and couple of my friends can hunt in the southern california area for boars. I know private ranches is the way to go, but are there any public land alternatives? Any suggestions would be great.

| Im not exactly sure if Pine Valley is the same as Hollister. I am thinking of just Laguna Mountain as it appears on the BLM. Im not as familiar with the area as I wish I was. If Pine Valley is in the Hollister district than we may be talking about the same Laguna Mountain. If we are talking about the same Laguna Mountain, thats a little discouraging that you havent seen any pig. I havent seen one and my friend has been a handful of times and he as only seen one pig. |

I take'em on the Los Padres NF...all the time. I still consider that So.Cal, it just takes alot of scouting and work, but the easy way is private ranches. |

There are many places to hunt hog that borders ranches, but you have to be around the areas quite a big to know when and where they are. Places that border the Tejon or the Santa Ana river bed are a few.
I have a ranch in Glennville Ca which is just out of Bakersfield with hogs running through... check my website

Good luck |
