ok, i have a question about something that has been bothering me, and i want to know from people who hunt. before i go into this i want to say i am NOT against hunting or a peta freak by any means. i work at a state park and people call in all the time about starved hunting dogs. the park ranger says it's ok the owners starve them so they hunt better, and they will find their way back home. i just think this is wrong!! to starve them at all is wrong, isn't it? i googled everywhere to find out about starving hunting dogs and couldn't find anything! and i have even hunted, and my family does but have never heard of this. is this a normal practice and is it ok? i just want to know so i don't worry about it anymore. anyways, i thought i'd ask people that would know best.

well, thanks for letting me post here, but i found out what i needed to know. a guy that works with me says that they are little b/c they run so much, and the people that call about lost dogs always think they are malnourished b/c they probably just ran 20 miles hunting and they will look that way. so i can quit wondering about it. can't believe noone here even has a comment about whether they think it is wrong or not! but, whatever.

I hunt with dogs for hogs alot and have never heard of starving a dog. Ours are well feed and maybe some on the fat side. We activily hunt them and they are in great shape. We use tracking collars to help locate them. Do not know where you are from, but nothing like that happens around my area. I know of at least 20 different guys that hunt with dogs and they all feed a good ration and there dogs are in great shape.....
