Im looking for a unit that is worth burning 7 points. Unit that has some decent bucks and at least fair to great numbers. I know it is difficult to predict a quality hunt , but I have waited along time and would like my best possible chance , because it will be along time to do it again , if ever. I would like to wait until I have enough points for unit 10 , but , my father is going also and he is not getting any younger, so I would like to get this hunt done this year or next. Any advise on a quality deer hunt with 7 points or less?? I have found it somewhat difficult to get good info from game and fish.. They have tied up phone lines and emails are answered in vauge terms. Thanks alot.........

You might want to call DOW and ask about the winterkill situation before you burn 7 points. Their phone number is 303-297-1192.

Or you might just want to call the Psychic Hot Line. Last winter, in my local area, there was horrendous winter kill within the deer herds. I personally observed it. When I called the area biologist to discuss populations (the following summer) he stated that the harsh winter had concentrated the deer and allowed the DOW to get a better count. Based on that count they felt there were many more deer in the unit than previously thought and thus they increased the liscense allotments. Conversely, he felt like the antelope herds were much diminished and the hunt quotas should be reduced. Naturally, just the opposite was true. The antelope herds had flourished and the deer nearly vanished. His opinion was based on one aerial flight and never mind the daily observations of those of us who live in the area. So, be forewarned.

Yea , I have been less than impressed with the info I have recieved in the past. It does look like they could do a little better with the price of tags and the years involved in drawing for tags.....Just my opnion........
