It seems that most hunt clubs that use dogs are trying to blame the "anti-deer dog" sentiment on the folks that move into Va. from other places. I'd have to argue that point. I know alot of native Virginians(including myself) that prefer to hunt without the interference of deer dogs. But I do think that the people who move into Va. are more vocally opposed to the practice, probably due to the "shock" of it once they are exposed to it. The Virginia Game Dept. even refers to "move ins" as possibly being the MAIN cause of opposition. I guess it sounds good to them..........politics, politics........

While I am an outsider being from Michigan where running deer with dogs is illegal, it would be very sad to see that great southern heritage of deer hunting with dogs go away.

While I have only hunted the south a few times both with and without dogs, I am not an expert on the southern hunting experience. With that being said, I would certainly like to go back down south again to hunt deer with dogs. Witnessing that great southern hunting heritage was quite an experience.

We hunt birds, raccoon, fox, coyote and rabbits with dogs. Why is it so wrong for our southern blood brothers to run deer with dogs? It isn't against the law. Why would we want to deny them the right to their heritage? We need fewer laws, not more of them.
