I can't remember where I read it at, but I heard of a guy that had placed a dummy in his stand that he made out of old cloths, etc and left it there during pre-season and while he wasn't hunting. When he would go to his stand he would replace it with himself and the deer would ignore him having become use to the dummy. I thought that was pretty slick.

Well, I thought I heard everything :) I'd check the thing for bullet holes before i traded places with it. Some idiot may be using it for target practice when bored ::-k

I knew a guy back east that did the same exact thing and he claimed to have success with it. Worth a try I guess if it was on priavte land.

I used to have a problem with some people sneaking in and using my tree stand. So I took a pair of coveralls, and stuffed them with guana bags and hay, and put a blaze orange hat on. These folks were sneaking across a creek, and the stand was on the edge of a field overlooking the creek bottom. It worked well for a while, and then it got tore down. I heard later at the local store that these guys couldn't believe that anybody loved to hunt that much. They said that this "man" was in the stand every time they went down to the creek, in all types of weather. I did this back in the late 70's. Everbody got a good laugh out of it. Guess I was lucky not to get shot when I was in it, and the "dummy" was on the ground. This "dummy" has a little more sense now.......Still crazy, though.............

Crazy maybe, but I`ve done it too, never had the chance to ask the deer if it fooled them though.
