Hello,

Nice sheds. If you are like me, you probably have piles of them laying around, and don't know what to do with them. Here's what I did.

Take a couple of sturdy hooks, and put them about 6 feet apart into studs in your garage, or den, etc. Buy a piece of chain, about 8 feet long, and hang it from the hooks horizontally. Leave a little sag so it looks nice.

Next you take the sheds, wrap a small peice of wire around the bottoms of them, and attach them to the chain. Hang them upside down. It will create a monster shed display. Mine is awesome.

If you want a pic, I'll send one.

Here's a pic of my shed holder. The sheds are held to the chain by a small wire wrapped around the base of each antler.

Let me know if you like it.

Here is a pic or two my trailcam took last week.

On another note My best hunting buddy has the best German Short Haired bird dog I have ever seen. Buck has a great temperament, good manners, and loves to hunt. I am looking for someone with a good AKC female to breed him to in exchange for a pup. I will attach a pic of Buck if able to find it

Del,

Nice dog, I remember growing up and we had a german short hair (Acey). And some nice bucks there. I just got my camera's out last weekend and will check them this Sunday. Plus put us a mineral site too.

We picked up my trailcam. It was loaded with pics of does. Put it out in another spot and got the enclosed pics. BTW I located a farmer with 300 acres very close to the farm those big "horns" was found on and got permission to hunt. Just have to share the meat with him. I plan to move the trail cam to his farm in a few days.

Del,

I only lived here for 4 years now and pay to hunt by joining an association. I would be interested in getting together with you to discuss how you look for land and how you approach the land owner.

Here's another tip that will save you money. Instead of buying the high priced minerals at Bass pro or Cabela's go to your local feed store and buy a block or a bag of cattle mineral. It costs about half as much and deer love it. I prefer the loose stuff in a bag. You can just dig a shallow hole pour it in and mix it with the dirt. If you have to use a block place it in a shallow hole so that rain water will pool around it. Deer seem to prefer to eat the salty dirt to licking the block. The above bucks were photographed over a block of cattle mineral.

To get permission to hunt . Dress in clean clothes not camo. Be clean shaven have a haircut. Knock on doors and politely ask permission to hunt. Offer to share the game you take. Promise to shut all gates, stay out of unharvested fields, etc. Don't be afraid of rejection. Everytime I'm turned down I figure the next one will say yes. You will have more success farther away from large cities. Do this well before hunting season opens. When you find a good place and get permission send a basket of fruit at Christmas or something simular. AND do not ever violate a landowner request such as not bringing friends. I've had so called friends go back without telling me a ruin the whole thing. Another time a friend took me hunting on a farm he was not supposed to take friends on. I never went hunting with him again.
