Robert,

Where do you live in So. Cal? Big place, kinda like saying "upstate New York"......

I live in Upper San diego County. I have a few places I hunt here, archery and rifle. Where you want to go totally depends on where you are located, and what areas you can draw a tag for. I have alot of friends that hunt around the area, so if you give me a better idea, I can at least point you in the right direction.....

Sean

hi sean, i live in corona area. there is the local mountains but they are loaded with hunters and then last year i was able to go one day because of the fires lol. my neiobhor says san diego area has some good areas. in fact his uncle has membership so hunting thing down there. but he doesnt hunt because he is disabled now. my neiobhor and i were talking about going to san diego and hunt the outside the club boundries. lol u know how u play stuff and ususally it doesnt pan out. the guy behind me is nice and all but young. he never even sited his rifle and hasnt even shot it and thinks he can shoot deer lol. i didnt want to force the issue it was fun tring to keep up with a guy 12 yrs younger then me going up and down s. cal mountains lol. he says he is going to site in his rifle after i gave him some venison that i got from my hunt in idaho last november. so, i lking at all possibilities within my small budget for sure. thx robert

Isent all of southern california in A south? So that means you can hunt from the mexico border up to big sur. Lots of public land between once again if you want to drive check out camp roberts and fort hunter liget. Also Los padres national forest used to allow hunting out in the black mountain area check with fish and game and the army just to make sure. A zone south is a hard area to hunt season runs 2nd weekend in august through the end of september average temp 90 degrees where i hunt not uncommon to be hunting in 110 degree heat now thats fun, every step you take is crunchy so its tough to be stealthy. The deer herds are shot to **** from all the pouchers and people who dont care what they kill. Good private land access is the best route and not many people will let others hunt their honey holes. good luck if you get a decent buck in a zone south you earned it.

I do pretty good ive killed some pretty decent deer and ive killed some pretty small deer nothing huge. My biggest was taken out of the Cambria area was a 20" wide 2x2. Its hard hunting though. All of them taken on private land.

blacktailer, no kidding about luck. last year i had one day of hunting because of the fires here. it was actually the day before the fires began. i must have seen 50 hunters in a real small area. it was pretty hilly for sure all up and down lol. but when i was glassing i could see them all over the place. i guess it would have been ok if they flushed out the deer to me but they didnt lol robert

hi fellow hunters.

i wanted to see if anyone knew of a good place to hunt hogs. my friends and i were up at Condon Peak this last week and didnt see a single hog anywhere, alot of old rooted up trees and acorns eaten but not any new traces of anything. was wondering if anyone had any good news as to where the hogs have gone to, :)
if anyone has any new spots, it would greatly be appreciated and ill for sure post some pics to show.
thank you for any help
