| Has anyone seen the new non lead ammo law that goes into effect this year. It affects mostly the central california hunting area. All the info and a list of the ammo that is ok is listed on the department of fish and game website. |

| yes, the copper bullets are expensive for sure i have some for my 30 06 i bought fed trip shoc i believe is the exact name i bought 165 grain. i went idaho in november. i shot a big doe in the shoulder (didnt know where it went in until we skinned it though), broke shoulder, ribs broke spine and out the neck. the deer dropped and only a drop of blood on the ground dead. when i shot the deer i hit it so hard that i didnt even see it fall. my friend had four tags to fill plus my one. he has 7 kids lol. anyways i shot another one and had a pass thru, apperently it didnt hit any bone. we track it down and when we found it, it ran again so my friend shot it with a russian round 180 grain 30 06 and we found bone fragments everywhere blood with air bubbles in it. we could find in different places bone chunks and blood everywhere but after almost 4 hrs no deer. we were both upset over the fact that this deer was alive and suffering. it must have been a very strong doe, though to take two 30 06 shots. i have mixed feelings about the copper round. if u shoot the shoulder it may be find but if it doesnt hit anything solid, u might as well be using military ball round u can get for 8 dollars for 20$ the greek military rounds!!! although illigal for obvious reason no expantion to bullets. the copper rounds act the same in my opinion robert :](*,) |
