Remember an expert is anyone who travels over 50 miles to give his opinion.
That might explain all those yahoos going to Iowa who want to be president.

Ordered the RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme today. The price increased since last week but ammo is going up too. I should have it in a week or so. I've got the dog on high alert listening for the UPS lady (She gives him treats) .

Great. I am sure you'll enjoy it.

If you look at older threads you'll see lots of posts by me asking questions on reloading. The guys here are great at helping novices.

Why is it that some cases must be lubed prior to sizing, and others need not be lubed?

I didn't realize that some cases don't need to be lubed before sizing. I am sure someone can answer that question and I'll be curious to know too.

If you will be full-length resizing your cases (shells), you will need to lubricate them, unless using a carbide size die (only available for straight-walled cases such as .44 Remington Magnum, etc).

How do you determine what type and brand of powder to use?

One good way is to ask right here on these boards. Somebody probably has experience with whatever cartridge you want to load. I am a member of another board and I read information on using IMR 4064 in my .375 H&H. I would of never thought of using that powder because I thought it was for smaller cases. I tried it & liked it.

WyoJoe, Thanks. I am going to start reloading for my .45 Long Colt. The ammo for this caliber is hard to find. I shoot a Taurus revolver and my son shoots a model 94 Trapper rifle both in .45 L. C. So far the only manual I have is the Speer that came with my Rock Chucker Supreme Kit.

Heres a company on-line that has just about what ever bullet you caould think of. I have never used them but know some guys that have. http://www.midwayusa.com/ They also have just about what ever else you might need. Looking around here the prices are not too bad but watch buying powder on line or through the mail, the shipping will kill you. Good luck you'll enjoy reloading, just watch out in can become addictive!

Now that I have the reloading outfit ( RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme ) I am going to town to buy powder and primers. So far I only have one reloading manual, Speer.
Any advice on powder, primers and bullets to start out with? .45 L.C. and .44 Mag., both for rifle and revolvers. Thanks

Can't help you will those cals but i would feel bad if i didn't give this CAUTION:

Some cases, especially revolvers/pistols are capable of taking a double load of powder and still able to seat the bullet without problem. Very serious indeed.
Check and check again :thumbsup1:
