Hi all,
Looks like we'll be headed to the Edisto, SC area in March for our family vacation this year. Can anyone recommend a place near Edisto for a hog hunt in March? It is my understanding that you can't bait in March because it's turkey season. I would be taking my 10 year old son. I have looked at some of the plantations near there but the reviews are mixed. Looking for ideas right now. I would prefer a hog hunt instead of turkey. TIA! |

| I told him about troys. We are going to be there filming youth hunts the week of Feb 16th. They have been great for promoting youth hunting. |

Guys,
Thanks for the recommendations! I looked at the bucks and boar website and it looks like it's a "high fence" type hunt. At this time I'd prefer something a little more "low key" (read "cheaper"). I'm trying to justify this to my wife. She's not a hunter and this would take time out of our family vacation for myself and my oldest son, leaving her with my younger son. If it's inexpensive, I think I can sell it. The other option is to wait a year or two and take both boys. Hunting feral hogs over a bait site would be OK but I understand you can't bait during turkey season. Sorry it took me a while to respond, I've been a little busy. Hunting and Fishing Expo is this weekend in Salem so I might see something there also. |

Hey NH hunter;
I know this not the exact area that you wanted, but take a look at S.E. Georgia.
Get a copy of Hunting Magazine for Jan 2008. It has a lot of info about the type of hunting you are looking for. This is cheap and almost a sure thing. License is
$100 bucks and this place is loaded with ferrell hogs. Some are huge. Hope this helps.

Roy,
Thanks for the tip. I am looking around the ACE basin mainly because I have access to a condo in Edisto. Pretty much looking for a one day hunt close to where we'll be staying. I know what you mean about the feral hogs in GA. I was in Macon quite a few years ago and the guy I was visiting said they had quite a few around there also. |

I went to Bostick Plantation in Sept of 2007 with nine friends from Tennessee. 30 hunters in camp for four days in the stand, one doe and one hog were killed. Out of our ten hunters we saw one doe and some football size piglets. A tripod stand collapsed with me in it sending me to the Hampton County Hospital. This place has the potential to be good. It is a beautiful plantation but there were NO foodplots and very little deer and hog sign even with the corn up and down the roads. The cooking was great!!! We had a great guide who kept apologizing for no deer.
They make their money from advertising to NEW customers. Think about it 30 hunters in camp twice per week for 20 years, how much game would you think is left??? If you don’t believe me, google it on the web. See how much positive you find. Send me an email if you want any more info. |

| Next time you're at Edisto, contact us. Deer Creek Hunt Club is in the Ace Basin, about 35 minutes from Edisto Beach with hogs galore. We normally have year round memberships with many types of hunting & creek access for more hunting and/or fishing. But we could probably work out something for a short term specific hunt. |
