Good for the Elk Hunter! In California, he probably would have been arrested for defending himself against the cougar.
Cougar...yummy!

Not long ago, I think in Oregon, there was a cougar who attacked a jogger on a path around the college. Right in town. Killed him and ate him. Then attacked the police as they were looking for him. Cops shot it, but still too late for the student. It was in Net Geo.

Isn't it nice to get out there and know that you may be ready to hunt, but you still aren't at the top of the food chain? The cats coming back is a good sign. Healthy predator populations means healthy prey populations. Now all we have to do is be responsible about hunting kitty like they deserve so they don't disappear again.
As for Mr. felis concolour wandering the suburbs, it's like bears in town here. Don't make attractants available. Be smarter about your pets, your trash, what you do in relation to the animals. It isn't tough.
Go Cat Go! :D |
