| I want to buy a Colt Gold cup from a friend, and want to know if I can put a ambi safety on it ? Im left handed and was wondering if you can do it to most 1911 pistols ? It's a late model colt. |

Yes you can have an ambi-safety added on. I would have a competent 1911 gunsmith do the job. You will also have to have an upper area of right grip panel milled out for a part of the safety to slip into. For some reason the right safety switch has a forward flat extention on it that needs to slip into that milled out area behind the right grip panel. Most new 1911 grips come standard now with that top area milled out. It's under the panel so it's asthetically okay.
Too bad that Colt has nearly abandoned the commercial market. |

What he said. The 1911 (I am assuming it is an A1?) is a great gun. I do enjoy shooting mine |
