| I am looking for ideas for an easily accessible but concealed handgun cabinet, keeping in mind that it must be childproof. Any input would be appreciated. |

Are you looking for something that will give you quick access?
A few years ago I bought a small gun safe lock box from Cabelas that is about 12"X9" or so for handgun. It opens by two means, a key or five finger combination. I use the key method only. It's childproof as long as you don't keep the key in it. Since I keep that key with my other keys I always know where my keys are in the morning. I'm sure it can be easily installed in a wall.
Once you have small kid running around the house you have to give up easy access to guns and keep them locked up. That's just the way it is. There is a much greater risk of a child having an accident with a gun unsupervised than there is of a home invasion while you are home. Children are children. You can make them memorize every single gun safety rule there is and even be proud that they can recite them from memory. BUT, no matter what, children do not fully comprehend those safey rules until they get older, no matter how well you've made them memorize them. No resposable adult gun owner would ever allow a child easy access to a gun, loaded or not, without supervision. |

| Thanks for the reminder. I am a L.E. firearms instructor ( retired ) with 5 kids and 3 grandkids. That is why I am looking for concealed childproof ideas. Better keep your handguns unloaded, kids know how to use keys too. |

I guess now that I think about it there really isn't anything that I would call childproof. If memory serves me, we got into things as kids that no one would have thought we could.
Oh by the way. Didn't mean to sound like I was giving you a lecture about gun safety in my post. You being and retired L.E. Firearms Instructor an all. |
