| I tried calling for the first time the other week. I have a combination howler, barker, and comes apart for use as a distress call. I was practicing with the barker, and sounded like a pup. About ten minutes into barking I heard something running through the brush. So I sat and watched intently thinking a coyote is going to jump into the open at any minute. All of a sudden this big old female Irish Setter comes running out and trots over to me with a big smile on her face. She stayed and visited for a couple of minutes then when running off again through the woods. After that I packed it up and headed back to the truck, chuckling along the way. Oh well. Will try again after deer season. |

| It's good luck that it wasn't some dog breed that looks more like a coyote. |

| Yeah, you're not kidding! Fifteen years ago a friend of mine put down one of three that came to his bleat call during ML season. The thing looked like a striped sheapard. A good 65 pounds too! So it's sometimes hard to judge anyway. |
