That is a dandy buck! I have a question that I've given a lot of thought to. Here's the situation: I saw two bucks and a doe out in this pasture I was overlooking the other night. One of the bucks I could see was real nice. This was about 5pm. I was sitting back in the woods about 75 yards and the bucks were about 50 yards out in the field. I called and they started heading in but as bucks do they'd get hung up and stop on me and by the time I got them in underneath me it was too dark. Here's the delima I have: Do you stay in your tree until they leave or do you try to get down and get the heck out of there as quietly as possible? My buddy and I have had this same situation happy many times this year where its dark but we've got deer in our vicinity usually it seems between us and the truck.

| I usually wait until I think they are a good distance away and the wind will never carry my scent to them on my trip back to the truck. You can get by with a little noise and them seeing you at a distance. They may get nervous but if they don't know what you are you should be okay, but if they wind you they know exactly what you are. The big boys will not tolerate knowing you are there. |

The rut seems to be in full swing around Dodge. I don't hunt archery, so will be ready come rifle deer.
I have just put up my first trail cam. Lots of night time activity, but the flash is not strong enough. No big boys showing up yet. This little guy have been frequenting the feeder.

| I just don't get it, I saw 3 young buck tonight and then a group of 5 or 6 does and they didn't interact at all. No chasing or anything. |

I went out Saturday morning. Saw three does together and one small buck.
I was out Wed. and didn't see anything, but my friend that was hunting nearby said he saw a nice buck with his nose to the ground looking for does. |

| The Ks. D.O.T. website says that Nov. 17th is the big Car/Deer day for Kansas. Haven't seen hardly a thing, and nothing on my cameras. What's going on? Too warm, maybe? Sat till 1pm Saturday and didn't see a thing. Not even a doe. Went home and worked on the bathroom again. Going out here in a little while though. Somethings got to move here soon. Going to be out ALL day tomorrow! |

Tonight was the first night I've been on stand without seeing anything. Had a nice buck come in yesterday morning. He came to 15 yds. to investigate decoy, but I he stood under a branch giving me no shot. Was fun to watch! He hung around for about 20 minutes trying to figure out why my decoy smelled so good but wouldn't move. Where I have been hunting I would say the main rut is winding down, but they will have another short burst in about a week.
Found a buck today that someone took a shot at with a small cal. Gut shot and it died on our property. Nice small 8 pt. Always hate seeing that :](*,) |

How has the weather been out there? It has been awefully warm and dry out here!
Do you think it is slowing them down? |

| Went out Sat morning. Rattled in a real nice 8 pointer. Shot and missed! It was a bummer. Went back out Sat night. Didn't see anything until about 5pm. I rattled and a lone doe come runnin by breathing real hard. She exited to my west and I looked over to my right from where she came and here he comes! Head down, lip curled up and on the move. I hit my bleat can and called him right to me. Shot him at 17 yards. Nice main frame 10 with a sticker. Better part is that last night my buddy's dad sat in the same stand and rattled a bigger 10 then mine and shot him from 25 yards. My buddy said there was a second big buck comin in too! Its underway fellas! Good luck. |
