Well we didn't get any thing this year but we saw a few.
Saterday was my turn to walk I started out heading south to a coupla swamps .Coming off the hardwoods down a gut towards the second swamp out steps a huge bull and cow. The bull had at least a four if not a five foot spread on his horns and the cow was smaller mabe 2 or 3 years old but no calf, figures we had no tags for a bull or cow. They stuck around for about 15 minutes giving me a perfect quartering away shot looking back at me not afraid at all.
I tell ya animals know if you have a tag or not.
Well that day I figure I walked about 7 miles or so though tag alders around swamps over muskeg through hardwoods. Some of the most beatiful country in that part of Canada.
I tell ya the Grouse are shure difrent than the ones we get down south you can walk right up on them and almost hit them with a stick.
After the moose hunt each day which started at about 7:00 am and ended at about 3:00 pm, I would take the ATV for a cruse and if I didn't get half a dozzen grouse in three days. they would just stay on the trail till I got off the ATV, and loaded my shot gun and blam add another one to the pot. I got 1 spuce grouse and the rest ruffed grouse. Yum good eating.
Well we had a good time even if there was no meat on the pole
F.K. :thumbsup1: |

I told yea fisher these grouse down here are alot different, you do get the odd one that takes off right away but most of them stay close. I always bring my 12 guage when I go hunting for moose or anything else because I like to atleast come home with something instead of being empty handed and grouse are darn good eating. You should have let me know you were comming down near my area we could have a had a beer. :thumbsup1:
I've been hunting moose for the last 3 weeks and havent seen a thing just deer. |

:thumbsup1: I thought about it and I didn't want to bug ya plus we hit the bush preaty hard lots of walking so we were preaty tired at the end of the day.
I tell ya with moose there is a lot more walking to get around them. With deer we are limited to around 200 acrs so I do alot more still and stand hunting , hardly raise a sweat.
There sure is alot more crown land up there too.
Well good luck with the rest of your hunting this year.

We user our 4 weelers to get back in a ways and then the walking begins. we leave the 4 weelers off the trail a bit so no one messes with them. Like I said it is preaty regulare to walk 7 or more miles not kilos in a day. any way If you are down in muskoka way at all P.M. me and I will give you my PH # and we can get together and if not I will Pm you before next year to get yours for when I'm up that way.
