Hi, a group of us are going to S. Africa next June. What/where are the best deals on airfare? Skyauction has started adding "extra" fee's to all their flights, so it's not such a good deal anymore. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks |

if you are going to johannesburg or capetown, there is a delta flight out of atlanta, which gets you there the next morning. check their website.
south africa air goes there from new york, and i believe chicago, you can check their website.
i never had much luck using orbitz etc. as they take 2-4 days to get you there and go all over the world first.
i believe british airways goes there, but getting a gun thru london can be a hassle. if you are going on to zimbabwe, most european countries will not tranship your gun there. |

| I don't exactly know. The outfitter I used arranged the airfare and met us in Atlanta and made the flight and hunt with us. We didn't have to do much of anything. |

| Why fly so far, just so you can get you multitude of shots and site in a box for days on end. This ranch is Africa, with less hassel. |

I guess for the same reason some people are satisfied with a replica Rolex and others want the real thing ::-k
A safari is not just killing African animals, it is the entire experience of being in the dark continent, being guided by a PH and African trackers.
36,000 acres of fenced land that resembles Africa is ok for some, but for me, I hope to experience the real thing. |

| i enjoy hunting exotics in texas, but a one week trip to africa and shooting multiple types of antelope there, is cheaper than doing it in texas usually, given how high the texas fees are for kudu, wildebeest, and gemsbock. i will say that it is cheaper to hunt bongo in texas, compared to going to cameroon or car. :) |
