I live in western washington surrounded by blacktails and i love to hunt them because it is a challenge finding a good big buck....... THE population is not huge... and the land you hunt is hardly every hayfields or plots.........Mostly foretland with clearcuts, lots of trees, some streams and some thick brush.....I meen though we are 2 months. away from opener noone has said a word.........Ill start off i guess or try and get something going.......
So far this year for bucks i have seen three close to my hous.. one spike... and two had to be twin brother 2 points with eyegards......both nice wide and tall. this was almost 3weeks ago by now they might have a nother point...... but as for scouting up where we hunt normally i have seen one deesecent 3 point with an eyegard on one side........well if anyone has anything to share or some pics maybe sheds....... post it because i would like to see this forem going........
Thanks ..Cody! |

| bigracks8, Good post. :thumbsup1: I haven't hunted blacktails, yet but hope to someday. I have hunted their cousins, mule deer for most of my life and love it. I hope you have a great hunt this year. |

BigBucks8,
I havent heard from you in a coons age.....3 bucks thats it.....wow....I went out tonight and did some glassing. I seen 3 bands of muley bucks and 8 white-tail bucks together. The mule deer this year in my area are running rampant. I started seeing a buck last week in the feild that will clear the 30" mark clean. Perfect 5x5 close to 18" tall. They still have a good month of horn growth left too. I might try my hand a archery this year. Just so I get first crack at him. I will get some live pics of him and post them. I also got drawn for spring bear in 121. Hunted 48 days out of the 60 day season. Got a 125 pounder 2nd to the last day. Having him ruged out cause he was my first. |

RidgeRunner_07.
I know its been a while since I've talked to you. Sounds great, good job scouting now see if you can get some photos. I've been shooting my bow for a couple of weeks( i just bought it), but i am going to rifle hunt one more year so i can practice and make sure i am confident enough with my bow before hunting. Oh hunting season is so close i can hardley wait, all i have been doing is coyote hunting.
Good luck out there to everyone, and be safe this huntin season. :thumbsup1: |

Howzit all new to the forum grew up hunting cali's south Azone. Hunted one season in Whatcom county Washington to no avail. Ive taken some decent deer out of san luis obisbo county. Now i live on Molokai HI. Here is a picture of a deer i took a couple years back on my familys homestead outside of Paso Robles. Little 3x2 last day of the season.

Only we that have hunted blacktail know what it is to really put in work for a deer. |
