| October 1st starts our season. Glad to see you had a good time. I broke down and bought a pump for this year. I've been using a single shot for six years now. Thought it'd be nice to have a follow up. Atom, are you using a dog? |

Nope no dog. The pump should do you good man its all I use usually. I have alot of singles but I let the family or the kids use those. I love my 12 guage its never let me down and it took its first deer last year.
I let my cousin use it was the the first time I think that 12 guage has been used for deer hunting and he got one with it. I think soon enough I'm going to break down and buy the competition 12 guage pump I've had my eyes for about 5 years. |

| You gonna start shooting competitions? I planning on getting an encore next year. My wife wasn't too crazy about the idea, but I told her she can pick out the next familly car. That smoothed it over a little. Now I just need to save my pennies. I don't use a dog either. I just walk through the ferns and listen for their chirp. Pretty effective method if you ask me. |

| I walk alot of trails too, thier are tonnes around here. I'll wander off of one pretty often though through the thick pines and spruces. Usually the birds drum alot and once you here that you just go to the noise and the chirp once in awhile. I find the best method around here is walking old logging and drilling trails the birds come out usually early mornin or late afternoon and after supper to eat the pebbles. They love those pebbles around here, helps em with thier food I guess, they eat alot of pine and spruce needles occasionaly youll find em packs with other leafs and grass, but mostly pine and spruce. |

| Yeah, I've had alot of luck along the logging trails myself. Makes it easier too if you're not hunting with a dog. I like it when they freeze on the roads like you can't see them! |

Yea they are a pretty stunned bird once the cold comes, they wont even move half the time all you have to do is walk slowly and try to use the side of the trail as cover.
I ended up getting two of those with one shot and the two ducks also linned them up at about 25 yrds while they were just leaving the pond was one hell of a day but it was beautiful weather for bird hunting frosty morning with lots of sun. |

| I think that's the first time I actually heard of knocking two birds with one stone. :laugh: I didn't get too many flushes this summer walking around. I hope that's not a bad sign. I have seen more turkey than you can shake a stick to though. I really need to try a turkey hunt. Hey, has Canada been testing their ducks for the avian flu too? |

| Yea I'm sure they are they have biologists all over testing. I got the two ducks one shot too. |

| I shoot clay here and there with the family. I have one of those cheap hand operated ones but it does the job. Im not really a competition shooter. I would rather be in the bush. |

| I only did it once. We had a hand held clay thrower. Worked like junk I thought. We ended up shooting alot of old dishes that day too. Hey, what shot # are you using for grouse? |

| Mostly 6 but I use different stuff all the time when new ammo comes out I like to try it out. For ducks and geese I usually use a 3 or 4 and grouse is usually a 6 or 7. What do you use? I tryed out BB shot for ducks this year and I hate em. |

| I've been using 8 for grouse. I'm thinking of switching back to a 6 after this season though. I picked up a box of 2 for ducks, but not sure if I'll make it out this year. My wife bought me a knew duck call for christmas last year, so I'd like to try. Last year was my first year with waterfowl, so I don't know much about what loads to use. I will say though, I enjoy the taste of goose much more than anyother bird I've ever had! |
