I got back from a great trip out of Schefferville a couple weeks ago. The first couple days were warm and didn't see many animals, but then it got colder. I got this bull our 2nd to last day. We had a great time and would recommend this outfitter and experience to anyone. I used a 30.06 w/ 165 grain at about 70 yards.
The area that we hunted was not a lot of open tundra. There were a lot of trees and we just waited for the caribou to come through. I tried to save the velvet, but by the time we got back to Denver and got it to the taxidermist, it was coming off. Not sure if there is a trick that I missed when I was injecting it, but I would have liked to have kept it.
It was awesome!!! |

Which outfitter did you use? Do you have number or website. I'm hoping to book a trip for next year |

We booked with Twin River Lodge, Andre ThrelFall, I would deffinitley reccomend him.

www.twinriverlodge.com.
They are part of a group called "Team Caribou". Basically, they use each others camps and planes. I had heard some negative things about Caribou Expeditions (one of the other outfitters in the group), but our experience was great. Send me an e-mail at cololender@yahoo.com and I can tell you more. |

I went with Andre in Sept. 2007. pretty good hunt. BUT the local indians were shutting down the airport in Schrefflersville. and had stopped the train. our hunt was cut short by a day and a half. ( one guy only had one bou) .
What did you think of the "Caribou bar and Grill" in Scheffersville? I have a picture of the menu board, :o I used a 7mm RemMag. and all of our shots (the Whole Camp) were ALL over 300yds by the range finder. Excllent food . but bou were few and far between. Thats hunting!
Have you checked out the price of that same (less in the package) hunt? Better sit down. |
