|
|
Hello
I'm asking this question on behalf of a friend who wishes to cast bullets for his .416 Rigby, for range work, as this usual supply source has stopped making them. They need to be at least 400 grains or heavier to compete in the big game shooting discipline.
Any suggestions are welcome, but in particular where he might obtain a mould to suit, (particularly in Australia).
I thought maybe a .429 mould and then size down.
Thanks in advance.

| I think I'd check with Lyman and RCBS. My books are fairly old so don't show any 416 bullets. |

Thankyou Don for the reply. The RCBS reference was spot on. They do make a .416 (.417) mould. Unfortunately the cast weight is 350 grains, but my friend said he can still use this for different classes within the big game discipline. I found gases checks from the same source too. SAECO do make a .414 Cal 400gr mould. I wonder if this could be used with paper patching and a gases check, or would the Rigby load be too hot?
I have emailled the appropiate department to see if a permit is required to import this into Australia. |

LBT makes excellent molds and in any diameter you need. I have purchased 6 custom molds from Veral at LBT and they're excellent. I'm ordering another custom mold in .375. It's going to weigh around 400 grains. It's a super heavyweight for the .375 H&H
Other LBT Molds
700 grain WFNGC for 500 S&W
550 grain LFNGC for 45-70
450 grain LFNGC for 45-70
610 grain LFNGC for 50 Alaskan
575 grain WFNGC for 500 Nitro, 500 A2, 500 AHR, 500 Jeffrey
750 grain WFN plain base for .577 Ntro, 585 Nyati, 585 AHR |
