This was a great write up by Jeff Johnson... This brings the two extreme perspectives surrounding Guns together, which is something that we all can relate to.

Charlton Heston has been our strong hold for the protection of our right to bear arms. He has stood by his pledge and under fire from gun activist has not swayed from his beliefs. Standing strong at 78, facing the signs and symptoms of Alzheimer's, Mr. Heston clutched his Winchester 1866 "Cowboy Rifle", holding it above his head, he made his statment for the last time...

"From my cold, dead hands."

I would have love to hear his speech!! I'm sure it was truly a monumental moment for the National Rifle Association and the rally of 4000 members which gathered for the 132nd annual meeting.

The otherside of this story that I found interesting is, while this monumental moment was going on, groups like the "Million Mom March" and other supporters were rallying together to talk about the extremist agenda to disarm American citizens...

How likely is it that we could lose our Second Amendment Right to bear arms to the Million Mom March and other supporting groups?

According to this article: "Marchers support the renewal of the so-called "assault weapons" ban in September 2004. This ban actually prohibits the manufactures of importation of hundreds of types of semi-automatic firearms commonly used in sport shooting and hunting in the U.S.; NOT true "assault weapons,"which are also referred to as "fully automatic" or "machine guns."....

This passed in 1994 under Clinton and will be up for renewal in 2004.

Just something to think about.
