Hey, that's some gorgeous territory you're in. A mite woodsy, are there some good shooting site lines to be had there? How's the sign look?
We've been doing a bit of scouting here in Maine but the District (#12) we got selected for isn't one of the top producers so we're going to have to beat the bushes a bit more before we start getting confident.
Our hunt is Oct 8-13. When does your season open?
Good luck, - Jay |

| Thanks Jay and you think thats nice I figured out how to resize these check em out. Amazing moose territory around here and yea theres alot of bush but I love walking through the middle of nowhere nothing like it too me. Tonnes of sign I found a ridge where they have been eating the maples dry and every ten steps theres a pile of dung so I think I might have found a honey hole Ill let you guys know how it goes. :thumbsup1: |

Man i like MUCH more open country for moosin- tough to see- shoot- get beast out--
I leave for NW ON also--next week old prof- going back to Armstrong and fly from there- 5th trip in oN but hunted moose for 25 in AK when I lived in Fai.
I'm taking 5 other guys with me- 3 newbies and two I've taken before- should be fun! |

| Good luck adk! My camp is up near armstrong but we dont moose hunt there. Tonnes of moose up here and you get the open spots here and there.Plus there arent any spots that can't be accessed by the new quads they have out these days. Quatering and packing always works. :thumbsup1: |

| Problems can come from Quads thermselves-- thye allow almost anyone acess to moose etc- and some folks barrel around bush scaring every living thing- i like hunting where it is impossible to get to except on foot or with horses-just my personal preference as i have seen many many places in Alaska where 4 wheelers(quads0 have ruined the hunting. |

Yea some people dont get it but alot of people use em just for the long pull out.
I cant hold it against the old men that use em to get around some of em cant walk anymore and they still hunt so I have no problem when I see some of them its the kids that dont even care about hunting they just go out for the ride. |

The old men? Sorry a moose is a big deal to get out for all hunters regardless of age.
They are big animals.............young men tend to be a little more robust in how they go about things.......older moose hunters use a bit more mind than brawn. |

| Got home last night--great HUNT-only one moose and I never pulled the trigger-new hunter got a nice 47" bull-it died about 10 feet from lake-- easy pack out-just finished getting all meat cut & wrapped--best part of hunt is that it's like being or going home again--10 days in the North keeps a man young- also ran into 4 old acquaintences from Ontario and shared a glass of homemade wine on the dock--at camp-Just sitting on stand talking with the moose and riding rivers was worth 3 times the cost- only bad thing was lake and rivers were about 3' higher than usual and hence moose went to high ground and we had big problem finding even one-- |
