the grouse hunting was very good in Idaho this year. We had a wet spring wich provided tons of cover for nesting. I took 8 blue grouse and 9 or 10 ruffed this year. I took some of the ruffed grouse with a bow which is pretty fun. GOOD EATIN'!

A few weeks ago the Minnesota DNR released it's findings on counts for this year..... supposedly up 40% in Northeastern Minnesota. Now, after the last few weeks of spending time in the woods setting up and checking trail cameras I'm in 100% agreement! I've been seeing a lot of grouse, and so far only one that didn't have at least 6 chicks with her. And that is just the ones I've seen - where we're at there could be 20, but it is so thick that you just see the ones that decide to move as you go by. The majority of the grouse I've seen have had 8-10 chicks. I haven't seen it like this in years! :thumbsup1:

The grouse numbers around here are greater then ever. I think around here they are always doing well besides the ones that get taken over the summer and spring by fox and lynx. Ive seen tonnes this year everytime I go fishing I see atleast 10 or more on the roads just doddling along eating pebbles I think this year will be just as good as last. Grouse can wait bear season starts in 25 days and Im counting the days go by wish me luck boys I wish you luck on your grouse hunts I will post my first grouse hunt pics soon as it opens.

I have been out 5 times and I averaged about 1 grouse in every 5 miles of walking trails ,there is probably as many yotes on the trails as hunters , yote sign on every trail i was on but wait till deer opens they will be all over the place .lots of road hunters too, 4 wheelers every where I would have to say a poor year here . :](*,)
