|
|
A friend was thinking about buying one, but not sure if it's legal or not for moose hunting in Ontario.
Myself, I like to call with a horn, but I'm a little concerned about him using his on his own hunt..
Any input? Links?
Thanks! |

Here's the link for Ontario Hunting regulations. I noticed for example that there are different regulations for moose hunting in "unit 65" than in others, etc, etc.
http://www.canlii.org/on/laws/.....whole.html
I don't know if it deals with "calling" methods. A call to the local enforcement people would tell you.
Something to read anyway :thumbsup1: |

Thanks for the link Hammer :)
It does mention electronic calls regarding turkey, but that's all...the laws were dated 1997, I wonder if they have changed since then?
Thanks again for the link! |

The problem is that The Minister can change regulations on a daily basis if he/she so desires, and if it is the same in Ontario as Nova Scotia, and I think it would be, the local Enforcement offices get an immediate copy of the "revised regulations".
Even the written text can be sometimes ambiguous and subject to wrong interpetations.
I'd simply waltz into The Natural Resources office and speak with one of the enforcement people, make note of who you spoke to and when, and follow their advice.
My bet is that you can use any mechanical or electroin means you choose. |

Here's the link to MNR Ontario's website summary of regulations.
http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/p.....ml#hunting
And here's the link to the summary of changes:

I don't see anything about electronic moose calls being prohibitted either.
WMU 65 is a large tract of public land swamp/forest just outside the city of Ottawa which houses a small herd of moose. It believe its reserved for handicapped hunters, archery only. |
