Well the first one is finally home, Squirt. I called him that because I let him out for a bit with Otis and a Squirt is what he is.
His whole world had fallen apart when I took him away from his litter mates but he's pretty much over than now. Stopped on the way home from the valley with him, up at Frog Lake, and let hin run around for awhile. First trees and brush he's ever seen and didn't bother him a lick.

How about an update on Squirt.
He's settled in real well now, that means my fore arms, legs and scrotum are a mass of blood clots covering puppy bites. He has learned not only to jump off the back stoup but also up onto it. he can climb the front steps into the house now. Best news is that he's had only one accident in the house and that was my fault.
He sleeps, sorta, in a dog crate next to my bed. When he needs out he raises cane and I take him out the back door and off the stoup. He is now to where I put on his check cord and he runs to the door to get out. Well the other night I didn't get the crate door locked and he escaped on me after I went back to sleep. The next morning there was a gift for me. Right in front of the door going out!
During the day I leave the doors open for him and he goes out on his own. |

Great looking pup!
So what type of personality does he have? Is he eager to please? How do you think training will go with him? |

He's got a great personality depending on if your talking to me or Otis. Otis hates his guts. He tolerates him if I'm there but if Squirt doesn't mind his manners when I'm not, Otis puts him straight in a heart beat! Otis caught him in his food bowl yesterday and came off the couch like a two year old. Was on him in a flash, put his nose under Squirts belly and threw him across the room. Squirt headed for behind the couch!
Still a little young to assess what he's going to be like but, he's bold and adventurous. Last night, actually about 2am  , he wanted out. So I took him out and the snot took off across the field next to the house. There I am, pitch black wondering around with this orange and white alligator in the middle of the night. But he wears his check cord outside and he minds it pretty well. Really bitty once he got comfortable here and I had blood clots on the blood clots. Had to put a stop to that. Whacked his nose one time and he's all but quit. he'll lick a moment them grab me but not bite down and look up to see if it's alright! Snot!!!
He jumps up onto the back stoop now and jumps off. comes up the front steps but until yesterday wouldn't go down. Yesterday afternoon he went down while I wasn't watching. Looked everywhere and couldn't find him. Came back into the house, not here. Back out and out in the field, nope. Looked back toward the house and there he is sitting in the yard like nothing happened.
He sleeps in a crate next to the bed and cry's to get out, almost house broke. During the day I leave a door open and he goes out to go.
Eats everything he finds laying around and poop's like a cow, About the time I got it cleared up, he swiped a bunch of Otis's food again and back to"runny stools"!
God I love him! :thumbsup1:
Forgot about training. Think he's gonna be a breeze. Very attentive and smart. |
