Hey i just recently got a Boar sighter its like a laser you stick down the barrel of your rifel then sight in the sights or the scope.

Well to the point i got 1 and heck its a great investment i sighted all of my 17 guns in about 3 or 4 hours.

I highly suggest buying 1.

I guess both you guys know that you need to live fire when your done to get it right? I use a similar methot to the tennis ball. I use a target at 25yds. Then fire one shot and move the crosshairs to the bullet hole. Then to 100 yds and do the same thing.

Unless you get very lucky, the only thing bore sighting does is get you on the paper so you can see the adjustments you need to make.

I wish it was a given. I absolutely amazes me how many guys tell me their rifle is alright because it was bore sighted when they bought the scope. I think I get a knee jerk when ever anyone mentions bore sighting.

I agree 100%. The one place I do like a bore sighter is: the other type of bore sighter (bs) with the screen of small squares. Once you have the rifle zeroed in (by shooting real bullets) you put the bs on it and mark where the cross hairs are on the screen. Now if you get into camp late and want to hunt in the am you can put the bs on the gun and see if the bumpy ride in has changed the scope alignment.
