| Finally after about 8 years I'm dithcing my old '98 model Hoyt for something more shiny and faster. But I'm stuck on choosing between the new Hoyt Vectrix and the bow that's got everybody talking. The Bowtech Commander. Last week I was set on buying the Hoyt... We had a 3D competition shoot this weekend and one of the guys had a new Bowtech Commander. He claimed he also owned a Vectrix but much more preferred the Commander. His reason was first of all, the fixed vector cams of the Hoyt. Seeing that I have a draw length of 31.5 inches, he said it would be very difficult to sell the bow in the future with that draw length. Another reason was noise comparison, and I must admit. I have never heard a bow as quiet as the Commander. And because I will use my bow for 3D as well as hunting, I'm looking for a good accurate and steady bow with as little noise as possible. Any comments? |

| I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on the vetrix; whereas nothing but consistent reviews from the commander.....I plan on going to a Guardian myself this year. |

| I have a 98' hoyt deviator. I've been looking at Bowtechs for 3 years and they just seem to get better every year. I still love my deviator though and will keep it when I finally come up with the big money for a new outfit. I also have a long draw length at 31" and prefer longer axis to axis lengths. Go for the Bowtech |

FYI this is a warning!!!!
So I went to a buddy of mine's archery shop last night and shot the new bowtech allegiance, tribute, and guardian. I had my mind made up that I was in it for the guardian. Boy, I was way off.
Guardian: Smoothest bow i have ever shot. Draw cycle just wasn't feeling it. Went from smooth to harsh in the breakover. If you can get past that, unbelievable shooting bow.
Tribute: Smooth, quiet, and quick
Allegiance: one bad mother trucker. Smoother than the tribute, not as much as the guardian. Draw cycle unbelievably amazing. THE fastest bow i have ever seen. Accuracy: Hittin golf tee's at 20 yards within no time.
Moral of the story: I couldn't let the allegiance out of my hands and walked out of the store with it fully loaded with trophy taker sights, NAP drop-a-way rest, sims stabalizer and a dozen arrows. BUT, the best part of it all.........Got it all at cost!!!!
If you shoot the ally, you WILL end up leaving the shop with the ally. |

I just bought a TomKat today. I've been shooting a Hoyt UltraTec but I decided it was time to go to a release instead of fingers and thought the 70 lb draw weight would be too much for me with the release.
So, a local shop is going out of business and I thought it might be a good day to get a new bow. The Bowtech TomKat came with a rest, sights, and quiver and I picked it up for $460. I thought it was a good deal.
The bow is ultra smooth and quiet. Didn't take long to get it sighted in and I am deadly accurate with it out to 30 yards already. It is set at 60 lb and I can pull it all day and not get tired. |

Man, I love it. I am shooting accurately from 40 yards. It is so smooth and quiet. I've shot it off and on all day and not sore at all. |

Hey CVC, Sorry Its been forever since Ive been able to post again... Been pretty sickly... On subject of Bows and Drawing... You will find that you will actually be able to draw more weight comfortably with a release than with fingers... Try cranking that bow to balls to the wall and see if you are comfy with it.
Now as an Owner of many bows (that I can no longer shoot due to a severe shoulder problem) I have to say that The Guardian I bought a few months before I broke my shoulder is absolutely SPECTACULAR. I am truly going to miss archery as it is my first love in the huting world. Im now researching crossbows so I can still enjoy the archery seasons and such. Im guessing that it will be much like a rifle and luckily I am gifted with the ability to shoot with either hand with a rifle so hopefully it will be the same with a crossbow. (Cant even get my right arm comfortable shooting right handed). KalahariHunter treat that new B-Tech well and It will serve you the same. |

Cam, hope you're feeling better real soon.
The BowTech is so sweet. My ultratec is nice, but I am impressed with the BowTech.
Get that crossbow because if you're like me, its not just making that shot, its sitting in that tree watching what's going on, have a bunch of does right under and not getting busted and the adrenaline rush that I get when a shooter appears.
I am sure you'll have the same experience with the crossbow. |
