I'll be moving to Bisset Manitoba shortly and wondering what hunting I can do out there. Currently I have an ontario outdoors card, and I'm only out there for 6 months so I'm back at the end of october in time for deer season here. Does anyone know what I have to do to get a moose tag or maybe a bear tag, and maybe small game?
Any experience with anything like this would be greatly appreciated

Bissett is in unit 26, with 17A just to the north. With moose a lot depends on whether you are going to be a resident or just going out there to work for a few months. As a resident there is a rifle season for bulls in 17A from mid Sept. to mid Oct, plus a late season in early December. In 26 there is only the late bull season in early December for B. As a non-resident you can't hunt moose in those zones. Non-resident Canadians can hunt bull moose in some zones further north (1,2,3, 3A, 9, 9A, and 17), but not right in the Bissett area. Resident moose $50, non-res. $290.
It sounds like you will still be a resident of Ontario.
Bear is not a problem, there is a spring season (it's open now through to mid June) and fall season (opens August 27th through early October. The only difference will be the price of the tag .....resident $30, non-resident Canadian $100. One bear limit.
As a non-resident Canadian you do not need a guide. |
