| I am looking at an 07 hunt. I had it narrowed down to AK and Quebec. Now due to the info I've heard about the Mulchatna herd in AK, I believe I will be trying Quebec. I think I have narrowed it down to a few outfitters. What do y'all think about Club Chambeaux, Jack Hume, and Safair Nordik? Also, if I do an unguided hunt, how bad is it going to be to butcher and pack them myself? I don't think the butching will be too bad because I have cleaned probably a 100 whitetails in my life... Thanks for any help! |

Hey there Blackheel welcome to BGH
Never heard of the JackH outfitter but the other two have fine reputations. Quartering the animals in the field isnt to bad just remember to pack in a good knife and a bone saw for hacking off the head or antlers and bottom of the legs to lighten the load some. Packing them out requires you are in fairly good shape. You will need a decent pack and there are no roads or trails except the ones made by the bou's and they don't tend to go to the same place you will be wanting to go. You will run into thick spruce swamps, muskeg, clifts, hills and patches of artic birch you just cannot walk through, but my god it is beautiful country |

| I am pretty good shape but I will be in great shape before I go. I've been to the tundra in AK (Yukon-Delta NWR on the Manokinak River) before and it is beautiful. I have wanted to do this hunt for years and I am worried that if I don't jump now, the price will be too prohibitive. It seems to have gone up $1300 in 3 years due to fuel increases. I have a feeling in 5-7 years this could be a $8-10,000 hunt! |

Jack Hume has been around for a long, long time.
You are right about prices.........they are not going to get any cheaper. Central barren-ground caribou hunts have all gone way up and lots of outfitters are charging over $5000 for one caribouo now , plus as much as $2500 to shoot a second, plus a charter fee. Fuel and the sky rocketing price of charter flights is driving everything up. |

| Yeah I think I have narrowed it down to 2 - Jack Hume and Safari Nordik. I am having trouble making a decision...... |
