That log in the pic is the more natural one . Here is the one I cut the tree for and spiked it to the log . I jus found those logs this fall and set them up and took a cat .

Oh, I hope your wife is very understanding! I got involved in trapping to spend more time in the woods too. After my first week on the line, I realized how chalenging it was and what a great sense of anticipation you wake up with every day. I can easily bring my wife and kids with me and it doesent seem to affect the outcome like it does with hunting. Even if it does its still a great way to spend time with them and they realy enjoy it too. I cant imigine what imiges were going through my wifes mind about trapping but once I brought her along the first time she saw that it wasn't as bad as she thought and she also found out that she realy enjoys it too. She wants to get her certification next year and trap too! That should be fun. Getting her out of bed in the wee hours of the morning isn't always easy though.
If you trap.....you cant even take one day off. No matter how sick or tired you are.

If you are serious I can put you on a website where someone will show you what you need to know to get started. 7000 trappers there and most are extreamly helpful.

TheNail, I saw that weasels are breaking the bank in the last publication of Fur-Fish-Game. For bait.......I'd use to catch a few with fresh meat....rabbit or muskrat and I think I've caught them using fish as bait too.

Hiker , I read an article where somebody was using liver . I was just wondering if anybody else ever tried it . I don't doubt that muskrat or squrrel would work as good as any , Bloody bait of almost anything would work . Their blood thirsty little fellas . If the liver was one of the best i would save them out of the rabbits . I guess I'll have to experiment with different baits to decide for myself .
