Some of the guys I shoot with and I have been disccussing chumming up some small sharks for a bow hunt.
I've got an older Red Wing Hunter that I don't shoot much and I build my own fishing rods. With all the parts and pieces I have laying around. I thought I would build a couple or three rod and reel set ups.
For the ease of fighting something bigger than a carp. I was considering a length of an E glass or carbon rod that is a tad shorter than the bow with four or five guides. A carbon reel seat and an open faced reel with a soft, yet sturdy, casting line of arouind 25 pound test or possibly some 20 to 30 pound fly reel backing.
The reel would be able to hold 75 to 100 yards of line.
The whole set up would attach to the back of the bow with a 1/4 20 bolt. Epoxied into the reel seat. |

Looks like I'm needing to start putting pictures of the archery gear in the forum. This is the third or fourth request.
I'll give it a try. Give me a bit of time to put it together. |
