I have used a 30-06 now and then but my stand by is a 243... Doesn't have as much "knock down power", but I just like it..

Mostly a Winchester model 70 classic in .270 Winchester, or a model 88 and 100 Winchester.

Although I'm primarily a bowhunter in recent years, when rifle hunting I use a Browning A-bolt in 30-06. My son has the same rifle in 7mm-08.
Once in a while I'm partial to the lever guns in 30-30 and .35 remington. Just kind of like carrying them around I guess.

Depending on the size of game I maygo to my 30-06 but I really like my .25-06 as an allaround awsome rifle. Mostly for Caribou, wolves and the occasional Moose.

I use my Rem 700 in .308 for deer size creatures but my favorite is my Rem sendero SF in 300 RUM that I will use for moose, bear, and probably deer as well. I have not hunted with it yet but the range sessions are unbelievable.

I have a heavy "Hart" barrel 700 in 6mm and love it. What a calibre! I have a 220 swift in the same config. and love that as well but the 6mm is an outstanding round for coyotes(the 220 swift is no push-over either)

Kgoody,
How do you like your stainless barrel. My recent purchase, Remington Sendero SF, has a stainless fluted and I know nothing about them... care, cleaning solvents, etc.

I like the stainless, it is a little more user friendly in the scratch department. My only complaint, on matte finish stainless, is the fact that dirty fingerprints show easily. As far as solvents, I use shooters choice products with good results. BEWARE! a stainless barrel will still copper foul as fast as a carbon steel barrel.

I only own one gun now. 6.5x55 Swede in a winchester Mdl.70 Featherlight. It has killed everything I have ever aimed it at within 250 yards, including 1 caribou and wild boar. I shoot factory 14grain coreloct bullets, and have no need for anything else. While I have not yet tried it on moose, the swedes use it on them. it is to them what the 306 is stateside. P.S. Get something bigger for brown or griz. bear. I do have 1 blackie to my credit though. quite adequate, with proper bullet placement.
