| Depends on gauge but I have always used the .22 short, long, and long rifle for most furbearing animals on a trap line. The .22 mag, 220 swift, 6mm will take care of the larger ones. The shotguns make too many holes in the pelt which decreases the value. |

| :laugh: i hope its a 16 or 20 gauge. a twelve gauge will blow the crap out of a small animal. if u just shoot to kill it wood be ok. but if u want the firs or meat u would use a .22 or a pelletgun over 1000fps. |

| Yea they work fine with the right shells. I use shotguns for atleast 50% of the hunting I do I love em. |
