Being my first year pheasant hunting, this is probably small for you guys. Anyway, Im up to nine pheasants so far this year and today I got my best yet. The tail is about 26 inches and has 32 bands. Very beautiful bird and even better fare (ate him for dinner  ) Im having a blast.

Byrdofprey - I am tempted to see that you are confined to SOUTHERN Idaho - so that the carnage doesn't affect my hunting up here - but instead I will say - CONGRATS.

The pheasants must be smaller up here. I have feathers from a dozen or so birds - some taken last fall and some this - and the longest feather I have is 22 inches with 29 bands. I never thought of measuring or counting before. Anyway - we're killing a few up here - not as many birds as I was hoping for overall.

Well, I actually got the tape measure out and like my wife says, you misjudge the size of it :P It was actually 23 and a half.
