I've never seen a white moose or even one with any white on it. I see by this link that they are just about everywhere but in very scarce numbers. Newfoundland hasa very large moose population and the white fellas are now Protected.

| White moose are not common but they have been seen on a semi-frequent basis in the Vanderhoof, BC area. |

Myself and a friend actually saw one on a fishing trip in Quebec a few years ago. It was at the edge of the lake we were trolling.
What a sight. Sure wished at the time we had a camera with us. We picked it out from the far shore and trolled across to see what it was, sure enough. It was a white moose cow.
Wicked! |

| There's a full body mount "white" moose for sale last time I was in Newport.,VT at the auction house. It actually looks more blonde to me. It's a sporting goods store in front and they do auctions in back. It was still there at Christmas time. Wright Enterprises for all you guys who are trying to give your wife a reason to divorce you. "Look honey, I bought a moose! It'll look great in the living room." |

An albino(white) moose was shot near Rocky Mountain House in Alberta around 1980. Quite a story in the Edmonton journal newspaper, and some controversy whether the guy should have shot it or not. Apparantly he was going to sell the hide to the highest bidder. The hide was white.
He shot it during a snowstorm, and said at first he thought it was a white horse. But he had a tag and license so he legally killed it. Many people argued he should have let such a rare animal survive.
What would you do?? ::-k |

| I think a full mount of a white moose would be worth a lot of money at an auction. :o |

| The Albino Moose , my favourite of all animal...Such a exquisite animal and only 1 of 100,000 moose carry a Albino trait. I Live in Ontario and there are two families I know of ; A family in Parysound,Ontario and a family in Foylet, Ontario. Each of which is a family of four or more... The Albino Moose is now a protected specimen because the Native People believe that they are a spiritual animal and that they should protected. Same with the Ministry and Government too I guess. I strongly believe that they should be protect aswell for the simple reason of watching multiply and so that every Joe blow doesn't shoot them extinct... |

I agree with you Tyson, albino animals such as moose should be protected. They are rare and the few living examples should be left to pass their genes on.
Here in B.C. in a small remote area of the coast we have a very rare sub-species of the black bear which is white, and known as the "Spirit Bear".
I'm not sure if it or it's habitat are protected yet... |
