We're shopping range finders for the old man and are wondering if we can find one in the $200 range... any suggestions?

Check out the internet for the rangefinder/price you like and when armed with this information, drive north for 40 miles to Seattle and shop. :thumbsup1:

problem is I don't like rangefinders. There are so many of them out there I don't know where to begin, I don't use one personally for that reason. You can get one for $20 at wal-mart or you could spend over $K, so I was hoping get into the head of someone with experience in finders of the price range. ::neener:

lmao@ Hammer.....Yes dustin there are a bunch aint they....Bushnell Has them for less than 200 for thier yardage pro line I believe.....I generally dont use them cuzz I dont usually take ANY shots at more than 200 yards so theres no need...My rifles are all sighted in at 150 dead on and have 2 inches + or - from 0 to 200 so I have no need...I just aim for the sweet spot and let it fly. That 2 inches is the BIG margine (my .444)

We basically run sited in at the same range, but he's wanted to try a range finder for a long time. Thanks for the tip, I'll look into that yardage pro.

I think Bushnell and Nikon both have them somewhere around there. You might also check out Cabela's. They have their own. I'm sorta like Cam, I sight in my rifles for max point blank range at a 6" target and pretty much live within that range. My 6.5x06 is set with an 8" target and I live with that. The 243 is at 5" and only used on varmit's.

Since I have a couple starts here (nikon and the yardage pro) I've been able to browse amazon and find some reviews. There are some yardage's I'll definitely stay away from. I found a greate one though that retails for $500+, however they have a few on sale for $190-250 with great reviews. It's starting to go over budget, but for a $500 finder it may be worth it.

Yeah my buddy is a sniper and he's told me stories about his leuopold auto adjusting scope with range finder. Awesome setup, but expensive for us civilians!

Hey Cam69conv if you don't own a rangefinder, how do you know that your not shooting at something over 200 yards, currious minds wanna know.

I can accuratly gauge distances without one to 200 yards...Have practiced it for MANY years and know my limitations for judging distances and as I said before I have all My rifles zeroed to thier flattest trajectories so I dont have to worry from 0 to 200 because Ill be within 2 inches either way and being as I always aim for lungs I have from an 8 inch to a 14 inch target so that 2 inches wont matter much as Long as I am doing my part
