I would go with the 338 winchester mag.
Not too much kick, as flat shooting as 30-06 only with heavier bullets that can take bigger game, and very very accurate. When I wear my barrel out, it will be a 358 norma mag.
in reality though, i guess it could be anything from 270 win - 416 rem or rigby. |

I have many rifles, but if it was down to one it would be my .30-06 old faithful. With that gun I can hunt just about anything I would encounter with the right load and shot placement.

If I had to choose one caliber, I would really have to sit down and debate with myself. It would be a toss up between .30 and .338. And then it would be either the .30-06, or the .338 win mag. I'm thinking for an all purpose round, the .338WM, would win.

................22 magnum Ruger Bearcat (.........yes, the mod. that was recalled..from'93/94..! 8-) :D ............for on the trapline........
............and- the caliber that makes no practical sense....but deserves to be the Alaskan Caliber.....and one that I am obsessed with for some reason.......
...the .358 Norma Mag.......(w/ just a Mauser action...that, and bolt actions make all the complete sense, up here........you come up and hunt:YOU WILL KNOW) :thumbsup1: |
