Hi
First I would like to thank the Moderator that was kind and open this reloading headline, THANKS. So why don’t I be the first to use it!?
So back to primers. I have problem with the precision of my Ruger 22Hornet and I got the advice to switch to pistol primers. So what are the difference between ordinary rifle primers and pistol primers? I have elaborated whit both ordinary rifle primers and magnum primers and I haven’t seen any different in precision. What difference can pistol primers give? Is pistol primers more like the magnum ones? Please explain!

The links I got only clarify that there is a difference but not exactly what the difference are. I’m familiar whit the difference between standard rifle primers and magnum ones (even dough I don’t experience any difference) but not the pistol primers. Why does one need pistol primers isn’t it enough whit just two kind of primers, standard and magnum?

It would be nice with some subtitles under the reloading topics (primers, case, gunpowder, equipment etc.) to simplify the information search in the future.

| I have read your other post in firearms about the history of the problem. When you mentioned the mechanism is placed in plastic were you referring to the action being bedded? I do think that the trouble is in the way the stock is bedded to the receiver. I don't think that the weight of the barrel should affect your accuracy in anyway as there are lots of heavy barrels that are free floating. My sendero has a 26" free floating barrel that doesn't have any additional bedding besides the original aluminum. I think the addition of the plastic is in some way affecting the natural movement of the barrel. Is the bedding that was put on removable in any way? |
