| Hey guys I am looking for a food plot to put in southwest Pa next year. i want one that will attract deer from oct-december. Im plannin on planting some corn right next to it too. What would u guys suggest. |

I would suggest clover or alfalfa. Both of which have worked well for me.
Just make sure you take a soil sample and get it tested. That will tell you what the soil needs for optimal growth.
I would also suggest an internet search for food plots and farming practices for legumes. There is a lot of information out there that will really help you out.

| It really depends on your enviornment....key factors..will it have light....will it grow good....does the ground need to be broken up...should I fertilize it.I planted clover where it wouldn't get but a couple hours of light in my woods.I didn't even take a soil sample and its looking good!! |

| clover is not optimum for the months mentioned.go with oats,winter wheat,brassicas,forage rape.these grow and stay green even under snow.there is a book by ed spinzola,ultimate whitetail food plots.tells you everything you need to know.i think you can get it thru the mid michigan chapter qaulity deer management assc. |

| Its been really hot in deer season here the last couple years and the clover seems to be out atleast half the season for them to mow down on.We didnt have snow atall last year in deer season. |

| Go with the clover, even if it means waiting until next year. Wouldn't hurt to throw down some special soil to help with thickening the patch. |
