| I am leaning towards purchasing a laser boresighter, I already own a bushnell boresighter that gets me on paper. I have heard mixed feelings about the laser boresighters, any comments or suggestions? |

If it's a bolt action rifle you're bore sighting, then forget the laser bore sighter and save your money. Put your hard earned cash to buying more useful stuff.
I have mounted all scopes and bore sighted every rifle I've ever owned by just looking through the bore on target and making the needed adjustments on the scope at 50 yrds from a steady rest. That has always gotten me on paper and actually close enough to the X on target during real fire. Any further adjustments should be done during live fire at 50yrds then again at 100 yrds. Then fine tune it to where you want your bullets to hit out at the distance you want. |

| I agree with WesternHunter. Whether you use your present boresighter or a lazer sighter or do a true"bore sight", you still have to sight it in |

| In your case with a lever action, then a laser bore sigher may give you an advantage. |

| Never used a laser bore sighter so obviously curious as to what the advantage would be over the traditional models . Either one would only be a first step in sighting in, or am I off the page again ? |

| It's basically the same thing as a laser pointer pen, except it's in the form of a specific caliber cartridge that fits into the chamber and lights up when the bolt is closed. The sends a beam down the center of the bore and projects on paper out to about 25 yrds or so. Eliminates the need to look down the bore while adjusting windage/elevation. Makes it a bit easier to bore sight, but at a huge price tag. |

Would you think the bushnell boresighter that is inserted in the end of the barrel and can be used with .22 to .50 cal using different arbors or the bullet style sighter be best? Cost effectiveness would be the bushnell as you can use it for different calibers but in my opinion I think the bullet style would be more precise.
Any opinions?

My bore sighter is thirty years old and has been in the barrels of hundreds of rifles and still works flawlessly.
It is the Bushnell 74-3002 Professional Bore Sighter , or so says the written material still stuffed in the case. |

| I just bought a Laserlyte bore sighter off of ebay and I bore sighted my Rem 700 300saum and a 22 rifle with it and you couldn't use anything that is any easier. It comes with 4 bushings that will allow you to bore sight calibers from 22 to 55. If your patient enough you can get one from ebay very cheap. I actually bought 2 for $36.00 and then turned around and sold one for $36.00 so I got mine for free Walmart sells them for $39.00 + tax.. Right now the "buy it now" ones at ebay are going for $42 and up but you can still get a steal on ebay if you keep at it. |
