New to the boards but I'm from Central Cali ...Selma just south of Fresno. I normally hunt D7, but have hunted D8, A, and will hunt B2 this year. I'm also part of Wilderness Unlimited. I hunt Deer, Pig, Bear, Elk (out of state), upland birds, and waterfowl. I'm also and avid fisherman during the off season.

| just came across this forum the other day. I'm from concord C.A. I just started duck hunting 2 yrs ago and I'm hooked counting down the days till the season starts. I also started blacktail turkey and pig hunting last year. I joined wilderness unlimited so that I would have a place to hunt. I am looking for some public land to hunt pigs, does anyone know of a good place. |

| Where is plumas county? The turkey was really good. Cooked it in a roasting bag with some potatoes and other veggies. I have not been able to get my sights on a pig yet. I'm heading up to weaverville for my last weekend of b zone. What do you hunt? |

| So far I haven't hunted anything. I would like to start though......I have thought about it off and on for years. I have spent a bit of time at the range off and on over the years but just never got around to pursuing hunting. I am proficient and safe with firearms. What I lack is the experience of field dressing, etc. . I've picked up some pretty good how -tos here on the net so I believe I could do a decent job of it. I think next season I will get a license and try and find someone to go with me. Maybe I will be able to find a hunting club around my mountain place. I have been thinking a lot about deer hunting because there seem to be a lot of deer in Plumas county and a while back I tasted venison and thought it was quite tasty......I also like domestic turkey so if wild turkey is as good, I'm definetly interested. :D Plumas county is a big county geographically. The part where my place is at is not far from the intersection of Hwy 70 and Hwy 89 which is between Quincy and Portola. Another landmark is the lake basin area / Gold Lake highway which is also close to me. By the way, it looks like you are a neighbor of mine here in the city. I live over the hill from you. :D |

there isnt that many pigs in the area that i hunt. you're pretty lucky to see a single one on a weekend hunt. they dont travel in big groups like i've seen on youtube. the most was four that i've seen together. i have only found one pretty good bedding area so far and that was where i took both my pigs at. i've seen the most pigs by stoney creek. too bad the surrounding lands are privately owned. saw few good 250 lbs + there.
beware of the bears there. i was chase by one the size of a adult grizzly while pig hunting in febuary. i wasn't the only one that was chase that weekend. |

I live in Long Beach and hunt zone X-10 and D-8 when we don't draw X-10. Primarily Rifle (Rem BDL 30-06) but plan to by a Bow after the first of the year and start practicing, practicing, practicing for next season, with the hope of getting in more hunt days in and eventally going out of state....

|
|
Hey out there!
Just moved to California from the midwest and don't have anywhere to hunt. I'd love to do some pig hunting (and maybe upland game and/or other big game) on some safe private land.
I'd be open to trading some hunting time on your ranch/farm for a week of great Missouri trophy whitetail hunting (private cattle farm in Northeast Missouri). Of course - I'm always up for just helping you control your pig population. I've been hunting for well over a decade and am a very safe and ethical sportsman.
If you've got room for a hunter please let me know - I'd be greatly appreciative!
Regards,
Grant

| Hi, my name is Rod ,and I'm from northern Ca....the Redding area.I'm originally from Pa and hunted whitetails sucsessfully with gun and bow. However I've been out here for 15 years now and still cannot figure out these blacktails.Don't get me wrong I have had some sucsess, but luck seems to play a much bigger role! Last year a buddy and I went to Oregon for elk(archery). We're planning that trip again....the only problem is that we didn't see elk until I went deep into a wilderness area, and my buddy is physically unable to go the distance. Now I've come to the realization that I will be hauling out the elk on my own and will be up to the task come season. Is anyone else in the same predicament? |

HI, my name is Nick and I am 20 originally from Foresthill CA in the middle of D4 deer zone. I've hunted all over that area since I started hunting and there are quite a bit of good bucks in D3-5 if you just know how to find them and are very patient. I'm into both archery and using rifles. I primarily hunt for deer, elk, and upland game birds.
I recently moved to San Luis Obispo to go to Cal Poly and recently got into Pig hunting. I've found a few spots, but if anyone else in the area knows of any spots or wants to go pig hunting let me know. Or if anyone has some private land in the area that I could help out with yard work or anything else in exchange for hunting rights just let me know.
Also If anyone knows of any general areas that I could scout for deer in the area I'd really appreciate it. I'm trying to learn as much of the area as I can while i'm down here for school. |
