Pretty amazing! Those folks at PETA must be smoking some of that loco-weed... as the reporter states, they're an embarrassment.

It's nice to see PETA take one on the chin for a change. God knows, they throw their share of punches around.

I got an idea that will make everyone happy...let's get PETA volunteers to act as suicide bombers against Arafat! Obviously (according to the article) PETA doesn't care whether Arafat or humans live or die...we could kill 2 birds with one stone - Ooops, I forgot that killing birds is a bad thing. Sorry PETA, my apologies.

Pretty disturbing when you think about how nuts these people are. I'm convinced that if a member of PETA's leadership was escaping a burning house and had to choose between saving a toddler or a hamster, he'd choose the hamster.

There's a substantial number of people out there who will always oppose war against Saddam as long as the discussion centers on tortured children, gassed villagers, and WMD. But if evidence turns up that he conducts animal experimentation, they'll be screaming for airstrikes.

Jackasses Saving Jackasses, somehow it seems fitting.

Cudos to Kerry Dougherty, you know a column is going to be good when it starts out:

Every so often, I violate my own policy against giving PETA -- People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals -- the publicity it desperately desires and doesn't deserve.

Two Thumbs Up.

Dear Kerry D.,
I wish to thank you for this asinine-plea article.
Please be aware of the fact that animal help organizations are specialized on animals
and cannot - for this sake - take part in any siding with or against parties. They focus
on animals and their needs, that's all.
They would never get access to any major addressee if they did not observe the
standard politeness or accept political etiquette, in whatsoever context.
I beg you not to misinterprete these facts. Please do understand that PETA is
doing its tasks in any man's favour, for people who respect animals do also respect
humans. Those who refuse respect to animals are betraying their fellow humans.
The commentary you gave is surely understandable, for all the killing of humans in
military struggle or any other armed conflict - this is true for criminality too - is our
main concern in a world dominated by mankind. Still, it is the animals who are always
taken as hostage, anywhere and by whoever thinks God will nod to his deeds.
I ask your pardon for my English, Kerry, as a sensible person.

I thought I would never be able to connect Arafat and PETA in the same sentence. Just goes to show you, "Anything and everything will happen at some point!!"

Arafat, Arafat, Arafat..... I would like to know what was going through his head when he read this plea letter... I'm sure there was laughter, then some more laughter, and then one really long, dark, blank thought, "Are there really people in this world that are more concerned with donkeys and cats, more so, than their own human race??"

I'm embarrassed to say, "If where talking about PETA, 750,000 members, that this above comment is probably true..."

Radicals or extremists, which ever you prefer, that ignore human life and suffering, are not human themselves. PETA's thoughts, perspectives, and actions are alien.

So in a warped, twisted, animalistic view, PETA's, 750,000 members have been taken over by a clan of rebel, human hating, intelligent jackassess, which seek to destroy the world as we know it...

In my humble opinion, the PETA letter only serves to embolden our adversaries. These are people willing to die for their cause, and this kind of garbage can only convince them that we're a bunch of wimps with no tolerance for casualties or any other ugliness associated with war.
