One other thing to request is a list from the guide or outfitter on things you might need to bring on your trip.

Any thoughts on what a suitable tip would be for a guide on a big game hunt or a fishing trip? What should the amount of a tip be based on? How about the cooks and wranglers involved, should they also be considered?

Most tip about 10%. If you have a good day some tip more. As for cooks and wranglers I guess that is up to you. But I bet they would appreciate it.

Tips are so subjective. 10% seems exorbinate to me. on a 7 day hunt at $5000 thats 500. or over 70 bucks a day. 50 a day is a lot to me. 25 is more reasonable. So for me a couple hundred is normal. If I'm really impressed I might throw in a c note or two more but thats the limit. I'm no rich man so a hundred bucks is not insignificant to me.

Here in Maine that is what they figure for a guide is 10%. Guides here in the state of Maine don't charge $5000 a week (that I know of). $1800 tops so a $25 a day tip is great. :D
