I just joined this forum and wanted to say hello. I am a Washington State hunter, born and raised here. 55 yrs old, hunted birds since just a kid and
have hunted elk for about 15 yrs. Love the outdoors, whether I actually bag something or not. |

Welcome to the forum.
Isn't this a great state to hunt in.
This year we're going modern rifle for Elk and Bear.
Archery on everything else.
We'll probably head down around the Elby, Packwood areas for Elk.
They want to thin out the Bear around the Kapowsin area so, we'll probably head over there. Two seasons ago, a friend brought down a 500+ pounder in the area between Elby and Kapowsin. |

| Thanks, Fuzzybear. I have not hunted for bear. I have hunted for elk in the Cowiche area (west of Yakima), Little Naches and Rimrock GMU's. All pretty much the same type of terrain. Many pockets of timber and lots of draws and creek drainages. If I'm not mistaken, I think the Yakima herd is one of the biggest in the state. |

If not the largest.
I've got a couple of friends that hunt the Oak Creek area for archery elk. They'll let you take a spike or larger (archery). They pull elk out of there every year. We're getting ready for some serious fishing at present but, we'll be going out to scout later on in the year.
This year is modern rifle for elk and archery for deer. Bear is whenever we see one. Whether it be archery or rifle. |
