September 2006 Feature Article:

Rattling 101

Rattling is one of those techniques that you either have complete confidence in or completely lack confidence in. It's true that there are few hunters these days who steadfastly maintain that rattling is little more than a gimmick and that the technique only works in Texas where the countryside is supposedly crawling with whitetails. They're convinced that no self-respecting northern whitetail would ever fall for the trick and that the fad will eventually blow over. Read more...

I am going to try rattling with a heavy bag this year during the gun season in TN. First time rattling. Been practicing around the house and the wife and kids are starting to get annoyed with that and my grunting. :)

I found out rattliing works the hard way...... :](*,) .....when I was about 20 years old I was up in my tree stand in the evening and hadn't seen anything so I decided to do some rattling....so I rattled off for a few minutes with a couple grunts...paused for about 10 mins and did a little more rattling....and paused for about 5 mins. got inpatient and decided I would spend the last hour watching the corner of a field that was about 100yds. away and just after I lowered my bow to the ground, something caught my eye....it was a giant trophy six point looking at me.....he had this weird look on his face like "what the h*ll".....and within a few seconds he was gone! couldnt believe it! So I try to rattle here and there when I'm out!
