I have a 14 year old son who will bowhunt the first time this year. He has taken elk and antelope with a rifle already so he wants to get a deer with a bow this year. I got him a Unit 20 archery tag for deer and have been doing some scouting. I've found places that would be good for me to hunt but wouldn't be good for him. I'd like to find a fairly high density of does in Unit 20 so he can get multiple stalking opportunities. We're focusing on learning to hunt with a bow and have zero interest in trophy animals. Does anyone have a suggestion of an area in Unit 20 that may have a high density of does?

Pinewood Springs
Might consider hunting around the Forest Service Access areas around Pinewood Springs. Lots of deer in those subdivisions, many of them are pretty dumb too.

There are a lot of deer
There are a lot of deer around Johnny Park too. Take the forest access toward Big Elk Meadows just past Pinewood Springs. Watch out for the Button Rock Preserve property, that's a no hunting property owned by the city of Longmont. There are also a lot of recreational users--horseback riders, bikers and hikers use the trails a bunch.
