YOUR OPINION!?!?!?!?!

Okay.... So I am on my way out hunting lastnight after work for a couple hours when I get a phone call from my buddy that has been out in a spot we go everyday. (This was my buddys first year hunting) And he says " I think someone is on the otherside of timber I am sitting in, I just heard a shot about 300yrds away." So I told him to just wait and I would be passing the only way into the otherside of the timber on my way to meet up with him. Well next thing you know I get another phone call a short time later (20 mins) " I just shot one!!!!!!!!!!!! its a 5X5!!!!!!" I said your kidding me and he said "no just get here and help me! I'm not really sure on how to gut it or anything yet, being my first year hunting!!" So I hurry up and get there hike my way in there and upon my arrive to where the deer was lying I notice that there was another hunter there, I introduced my self and he was saying that, that was his deer ( THIS DEER IS DEFINATLEY A B&C RECORD BOOK DEER). I talked to the guy for awhile and asked him if he hit the deer and he said yes . So I asked where and he said he didn't know. Next I asked my buddy where he shot it at and he said he hit it in the head and "It just dropped!" ( He was very excited) I started looking at the deer and sure enough I found another hole besides the shot in the head and it was in the front left elbow. No blood coming from the elbow. We all started talking and the other guy also mentioned he could not find a bloodtrail either and that the deer was just hobling away. My friend said when the saw the deer it was running quarting away from him about 75yrds away. he said it did not appear to be injured and it was not coming from the way he heard the gun shot. So.... my question to everyone is who do you think should have got the deer???????????I will tell you who did at a later point

YOUR OPINION!?!?!?!?!

Your buddy most definately should have gotten this deer. If you kill it you keep it if you ask me.

YOUR OPINION!?!?!?!?!

Absolutely your buddy Yes The other guy was no where close to a kill shot, if that was even the deer he shot at.
Do you have a pic of this beast?

YOUR OPINION!?!?!?!?!

Definately your buddies buck.

I had one similar to this many years ago. I shot a nice 3 pt (18-19 inches wide) with a shotgun and slugs. The slug went through the upper front leg, the brisket and out the other upper front leg. It took off and I missed as it was running. I waited for it to slow down for another shot and someone let loose with 2 quick shots from an autoloader and the deer dropped. We went over to take a look and told him we hit it. My shot did have blood and he may have died shortly, but as it was running the other guy dumped it hard. We let him keep it.
But what ticked me off was a week later at a party a friend told me that his friends "girlfriend" killed a whopper 3 pt in the same area. She was in his car when he shot it and she tagged it and claimed it as hers..

Anyway, hope the story turns out well.

YOUR OPINION!?!?!?!?!

I'm kind of suprised that the other guy even acknowledged such a poor shot. Did you buddy learn to field dress a deer?
