This years success.

Well the round ball did it again for my best friend Justin and myself. We spent last week up at my families cottage on Beaver Island located in the middle of Northern Lake Michigan. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources estimated a population of 2,500 deer up on the island.(52 square miles) that is just shy of 50 per square mile. So they are thick up there with plenty of big bucks. Well so I thought. All the bucks seemed to congragate in the thick Cedar Swamps and forests that make up South Central Beaver Island. We walked accross a number of frozen over beaver ponds to do nothing but kick the deer up in front of us. After a couple long hard days of this, we decided to sit some apple orchards. Justin took probably the largest doe I have ever seen. After draging her and trying to get her up in the truck I have officially named her the Bismarck. She tiped the scale at 176 pounds dressed. And on the last day I also shot a doe. She dressed at 142. Both heavy bodied deer. All in all it was a good week. Justin shot a T/C Renegade and I shot a Hawken. Both rifles were in .54 cal and both deer were taken under 40 yards. Well I hope you guys also enjoyed success this year. Lets hear some stories. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas.
