I've deer hunted near there in 7( actually 65 for deer). I think 7 and 19 are a little overrated based on the demand for those hunts. The pressure isn't too bad, but there aren't very many elk. In fact, it's about half the statewide average. Success is good, and I'm not really sure why. Might be the terrain is a little easier to hunt with some decent visibility. Decent bull quality, a little better than average for Wyoming, which is better than Colorado. It's not fantastic, and shouldn't require the number of preference points it takes. Just a decent unit.
As I sit and glass, which is common for hunters out west, I have sort of quickly discovered something I never learned when I was younger.
In my youth I had enthusiasm and spirit. In my middle to advancing years I have creaky knees, arthritis, and I tire more easily than I used to. Where I used to sit on the cold hard ground I now look for that soft spot to sooth my tired muscles. That leads me to my tip.
Carry your soft spot with you!
In my pack I carry an air filled, ultralight, camping pad....
